This mission statement of Barbarossa's founder Martin Miehle is still filled with life every day by great-great-grandson Florian Miehle, his wife Christiane and their daughters Katharina, Klara and Karlotta and the entire Barbarossa team.

We hope that you feel comfortable in our house. In every corner of the hotel you still sense the moving Constance history because of many historic details and decorations. You can easily explore the city on foot thanks to our perfect location in heart of the old town.  The "Obermarkt" used to be an important trading and transit centre.

Enjoy the sunshine and take in the views of the old town of Constance, which dates back to the Middle Ages. The terrace offers views of the cathedral spire, the rooftops of the old town and the spire of St. Stephan's Church. 

The old town terrace is a great place to escape form the bustling streets and replenish your energy before going on to visit the many attractions of the city. 

Our rooms

A lot can happen where history meets modernity. The Barbarossa offers around 50 individually furnished rooms of the upper middle class, whereby none is the same, but each individual room has its own distinctive character. This diversity makes it possible for us to respond to the wishes of our guests in a particularly individual manner - regardless of whether they are only passing through briefly, stay in Constance for a few days, whether they want to experience a dreamy weekend for two or spend their family vacation at Lake Constance.

Varied and homemade

The good room in the Hotel Barbarossa is the "Weinstube" - the cozy restaurant decorated with old wall paneling and many historical memorabilia. Here you can enjoy in peace and quiet and look at the lively life on the Obermarkt - as did the previous generations of Miehle landlords who still look down from the picture frames today. You will also find delicious Lake Constance wines and international wines on our wine list.
